Gabriel Blewitt [sic], 45, builder, born Cornwall, 17 years in Victoria, died 22 October 1869, Melbourne Hospital, fractured spine, exhaustion 18 months, father's name Gabriel Blewitt [sic], stonemason, mother's name Ruth Blewitt [sic] formerly Walters [sic] married at 28 in Collingwood to Grace Landion [sic], children Arthur 5, Emma dead, Jane dead.
This certificate was reissued in 1915, along with his father Gabriel's certificate, with a note by assistant government statist James Fenton on 16 September 1915 - the names read Blewett instead of Blewitt (in the originals presumably) and were corrected on his written authority. Who would have wanted both certificates corrected in 1915, 45 and 46 years after they were first created?
