The original suffrage petition is held at Public Record Office Victoria. Access to it is restricted, due to its fragility, but the petition has been transcribed. I was privileged to see the petition in real life during filming for a segment of Who Do You Think You Are? (season 11, episode 2 - Bert Newton, SBS, aired 26 May 2020). It was a real act of courage for women to sign this petition in 1891, for some men forbid their wives from doing so (letter to the editor, The Argus, 15 September 1891, p.6).
For more on the women's suffrage petition see these articles at Public Record Office Victoria, and if you can, track down the excellent article by Anthea Hyslop from 1976, ‘Temperance, Christianity and feminism: The woman’s Christian temperance union of Victoria, 1887–97’ (Historical Studies, 17:66, 27-49).
